inferma!

I'm sick. In Europe. This actually happens to me more times then not when I travel abroad. I find that I'm particularly sensitive to the bs recycled air Continental Airlines has to offer me. I'm going to be a real grouch if I have to travel for nine hours with a soar throat and the chills. Cute. For the safety of those traveling to Newark, you'd better hope there's no one sitting next to me.

Nature

Today was a very long day. We took the kids to the top of zurich, via train, and hiking paths. There were some seriously beautiful views

but the kids couldn't take that much nature and everyone ass'ed out as soon as we got home. Nap number two for one Ms. Anne Longstreet.

My dad is coming over to visit them next week (hours after I leave, sadly). Of course he's going to enjoy himself. He's into nature and babies, so we're already two for two over here. He doesn't ever travel and outside of a quickie flight to Bermuda in the spring, his last plane ride was in 1977. So this should be good. I hope that he gets the bug and understands why it is that I'm over here all the time. When ever I'm about to go abroad Dad always jokes, "why don't you stay the hell home where you belong?" After next week, hopefully he'll get it.

Pirates and Books Swaps

Day three: We've already dressed up like pirates, had pancakes for dinner, went to a swiss (more like british) book swap (too bad for anne, no one brought any hemmingway), and saved the general population from a very scary hedgehog. The world is as it should be.

Wedding Season

In a terrible twist of fate, my computer died just before publishing the first, and far better, version of this very blog. In an attempt to save face (and get this done before my handful of advil pm kicks in), I'll be giving you some highlights.

I'm sitting here in bed, listening to Mob Hits, reminiscing over this past weekend. It all began saturday evening. I had a very special date... with Neil Diamond. That's the, Girl, You'll Be a Woman Soon, Kentucky Woman, Forever in Blue Jeans, Sweet Caroline, Neil fuckin' Diamond. And let me just say, our seats were great. Thanks again, Carm. After two hours of hits, glass beaded shirts, and duets (sans Barbara, mind you) I was ready to make a repeat appearance Sunday night. However, it was not to be.

Instead, I was lucky enough to be roommate's date to a very pool deck related wedding. Our boss and his lovely (now) wife threw a stellar party somewhere north of here (Lord knows I didn't drive). The fillet was great and the drinks were free. Everyone looked amazing. I even liked the bridesmaid's dresses, and that never happens. It was tasteful. It was classy. It was great. The following pictures were thieved from a fellow pool kid. I really need a new camera.

Restless

Here we are, day two of no lessons. In an act of desperation I've chopped off all my hair (pictures to follow when I get around to it). I'm at a total loss of things to do - do I actually have guilt that I'm not at work? You bet. Thanks, Carm. I'm going to need a hobby, immediately.

Anne took the family to EuroDisney. In an attempt not to self-hate because I am totally missing all the exciting new things the kids are doing - the following are pictures of Cate, Sean and Co. in Paris.

Swimming lessons are over. If I don't smell  like chlorine, I just don't know who I am...
